Do you want to change the look on a furniture piece but the holes don’t match up to the hardware? Let me show you the best wood filler for your furniture!!
The Best Wood Filler For Your Furniture Hardware Holes
Have you ever found a great piece of furniture and thought, this needs new hardware. Thennnnn….you realize that cute hardware you want to use just won’t fit. How do we fix this? You use the best wood filler around to plug those holes and start fresh!! I am a woodworker who builds furniture as well as creating beautiful painted furniture. Dixie Belle’s- Dixie Belle Mud is by far the best! It’s the easiest to sand or even in this case wipe off!! it dries fast, hard, and a dream to work with. It is NOT stainable but who cares we are painting over those old hardware holes anyways!

For this project I used Dixie Belle’s- Dixie Belle Mud in White.
The first step is to open the drawers and put tape on the holes. Doing this allows you to push the wood filler into the holes all the way.
After you have taped off the holes, you will take a plastic paint scrapper and completely fill the holes with the wood filler. Then once the holes are filled, you will put a thin layer across the holes. (Think about icing a cake).
What Now? After The Wood Filler Is Dry
Once the wood filler is dry, you will want to either sand the excess or in this case I took a wet paper towel and wiped the excess away. This is why I think this is the best wood filler, it is easy to use and remove!
After you have properly prepped your furniture, you will just paint away!! Do you SEE how smooth and new that drawer front looks? Hallelujah for an amazing wood filler!!!
The new hardware completely transformed the look of this dresser into a cool colorful farmhouse look!!
