It’s no secret that I am a HUGEEEEE fan of color and all things boho decor related. I was asked to donate a piece for a local Montessori school’s silent auction. Of course I said yes but, you have to let me do my thing. Naturally they agreed 🙂 I took this cute little plain buffet and turned it into a boho lovers dream. Now I am going to show you exactly how I did it! Below is a list of materials, also I will be linking other blog posts of mine to show you certain steps as well 🙂

Supply List:

Refinishing The Top

The first step in this process was to refinish the top of this piece. I documented exactly how in the blog post below.

Putting The Base Coats Down!

The first step to this process is to make sure you prep your piece. Cleaning it really well with their White Lightening cleaner is my favorite way to prep a piece. I used my Dixie Belle Flat Medium Synthetic Brush to put Blueberry on the bottom half of the buffet. I only needed one coat because the coverage is phenomenal.

After I painted the bottom in Blueberry I painted the top in Sea Glass. Make sure to butt the Sea Glass right up against the Blueberry. The Sea Glass needed two coats so I painted the second coat. I picked these two colors because they are perfect for boho decor, compliment each other nicely, and it’s spring so why not?

Vinegar Paint!

This part was a learning experience in itself for me, first off, I recommend you use a cheap spray bottle. Also make sure your vinegar, water and paint is super diluted so it doesn’t clog your sprayer.  So first thing I did was add distilled white vinegar and water to my spray bottle, then added paint (I am sorry I can’t give you measurements,it’s the mad scientist in me). Try to make sure you swirl it to mix it, don’t shake it too much or it will bubble up from the vinegar 🙂 Also I recommend you do this with a chalk type paint, not a latex or something like that.

Why The Vinegar Paint?

So when you add vinegar to paint or spray vinegar on wet paint you will often times get a spider like effect, it’s cool. Trust me. I didn’t get a ton of that on here because it dripped down but usually when it pools like you see at the bottom of the one picture thats when you get that spider like effect. So for this part I used my vinegar paint that was Farmhouse Green. Sprayed it right at that line where the Blueberry and Sea Glass meet. I also took a paintbrush with the Farmhouse Green and flicked it a little bit to get paint splatters.

Mica Powders For Boho Decor

What goes great with awesome colors? Shiny beautiful mica powders! So I used the white/pearl and copper one from the Prima Marketing- Finnabair Serenity Pack! I poured some of the powder on a paper plate, added water, then mixed with a chip brush. You want it to be thin enough that it will drip but thick enough that you don’t dilute the color out.

I took my chip brush and dipped it in the mixture then chose different spots towards the top of my piece and pressed down so that the mica powder/water mix would drip down. Once it dried, holy magic!!! it just has a perfect balance of shimmer and color to make your heart soooo happy!

Adding Gold Leaf

Gold leaf, silver leaf, copper leaf, any color leaf is my jam!! for this one I added copper leafing. I did an entire blog post on it below!!

How To Add Gold Leaf To Your Projects With Ease

You will want to finish this project up by ensuring that you seal it. Dixie Belle Paint doesn’t need to be sealed but leafing does, so it is just a double whammy, extra protection and you seal your leafing!

Check out the final pictures below!! I can’t wait to see who buys this piece at the silent auction!!!
