What will you need:

  1. Stick and Style Stencil Roll- Cornelle Garden

  2. Dixie Belle Dixie Mud- Black

  3. Painter’s Tape

  4. Razor

  5. Plastic Spatula

Let Me Show You How Easy This Is!

The first thing you will want to do is make sure that the base coat you will use the stencil on is dry. For this project I used a Stick and Style Stencil Roll by Redesign with Prima in Cornelle Garden. The backside of these stencils is sticky so when you choose the area you want to put it on you will press it down to make sure it is completely secure. I was trying to make sure the stencil roll would fit perfectly within the inlay. I then trimmed of the rest of the stencil with a razor.

After I cut the stencil and it is place exactly how you I wanted it, I put painters tape down. The painters tape will allow for a nice clean embossed stencil. If you are putting the stencil on an edge you make not need the tape. If there is any chance that the mud can get on a place you don’t want, use the tape.

I see you checking out that patina metal…..check out below how I did that.

Let’s Get Down And Dixie Muddy

I used Dixie Belle Mud in black. I also used the plastic mud spatula to spread the mud over the stencil. Think of it like icing a cake. You don’t want the mud too thick but you also don’t want it to be to think otherwise it won’t look like an embossed stencil.

Once you have spread the mud on the stencil and you think it is totally covered you will carefully pull up the tape and stencil. You want to gently find the corner of the stencil,  you may need to use a razor to lift the corner up. once you have the corner pull the stencil away lightly.
