This blog goes over to blend and create a raised stencil. I created a video as well. Blending is really hard for me to write out so I made sure I went through this entire process in a video as well. You will have to check out this amazing dresser transformation as well as the extended video I created 🙂

Below is a list of supplies I used for this super cute little makeover!

The Sadness Before

Prepping The Dresser

Prep is really based upon each piece. if you are trying to paint furniture you need to make sure your prep is good. Remember your final finish is only as good as your prep. This piece had an almost film like they had used pledge a lot. I KNEW that would be a huge problem. The first thing I did was remove all the hardware and cleaned my piece really well with Dixie Belle’s White Lightening Cleaner. There were metal placards behind the knobs and so I had to pry those off as well. I then filled the holes with Dixie Belle Mud. Once that was dry I did a scuff sand on the entire piece, just for extra measure. (I only do this for furniture pieces with shine or that I am iffy about). Generally with the way paint is formulated these days a really good clean with a high quality cleaner is sufficient.

Blending Chalk Paint-Glass Beads- Translucent Stencils

Dixie Belle’s Chalk Mineral Paint is a really great paint to to try blend with. It’s not so easy to explain how to blend in words so I put together a video for you. I also walk you through how I did the stenciling. Normally I would write out all the steps of this dresser transformation but I think a video is much more beneficial.

I hope you find this video helpful and informative. I would love to hear what you think!!
