DIY Pottery Barn-Inspired Table Lamps on a Budget from Goodwill

Hello, fellow crafters and DIY enthusiasts! It's Crys'Dawna here, and today, I'm thrilled to share a budget-friendly project that will elevate your home décor. We're talking about creating Pottery Barn inspired table lamps without breaking the bank. I will show you exactly how to create these Pottery Barn DIY Table Lamps that I picked up from Goodwill.

I recently embarked on a quest for home décor enhancements and stumbled upon some stunning lamps from Pottery Barn. While they were incredibly stylish, their hefty price tags were far from appealing. This sparked my creativity, and I set out to replicate their luxurious look for less.

In this video, you'll join me on a trip to Goodwill, where I serendipitously found two quaint little lamps, perfect for my project. My recent experiments with stone finishes got me thinking, "Why not apply this to the lamps?" And so, the transformation began.

The first step involved adding character to these thrift store finds. I used WoodUbend moldings, which, when heated, become malleable and easily wrap around the lamps, mimicking the textured details of the high-end versions. The right adhesive is crucial here, and I opted for Titebond Quick & Thick for its multi-surface compatibility.

After securing the moldings and cleaning up any excess glue, I prepped the glass with rubbing alcohol and applied a robust adhesion primer, setting the stage for the magical transformation. The creation of the stone texture was a blend of art and science, using a mix of paint and texture additive to achieve the right consistency.

Layering different shades of grey and employing a stippling technique, I carefully crafted a faux stone finish. The real magic happened when I used a paper towel to dab and peel off certain areas while the paint was still damp, revealing the darker undertones and adding depth to the texture.

Once the texture work was complete and thoroughly dry, I sealed the lamps with a matte sealer, locking in the beauty of my handiwork. The result? Two exquisite table lamps that radiate the Pottery Barn charm at a fraction of the cost—around $25 each compared to the original $300!
